When to Arrive
Friday
If you're planning on coming on Friday for the pizza party, feel free to show up anytime from 4 pm onward. Pizza prepping will begin ~4:00 or so, with the first pizzas coming out of the wood-fired oven ~6 pm. If you're camping on Friday night, coming before dinner would allow you to set up your tent and get settled a bit.
Saturday
If you're just coming for the wedding ceremony and reception, feel free to show up anytime after lunch (say ~ 1pm). This will give you a few hours to explore, swim in the pool, and hang out with friends before the ceremony begins at 4:30 pm (seating will begin between 4-4:15 pm).
Parking
There is a limited amount of parking on site, so this will take a little coordination and patience on everyone's part. We'll designate a parking section for those staying the night and a section for those who need to leave at the end of the evening. If at all possible, please carpool with friends. Let us know if we can hook you up with a carpool buddy. There is a parking lot at the bottom of N. Rodeo Gulch Road (on the corner of N. Rodeo Gulch and Soquel Dr., 2 miles from the site) where you could leave your car for the night if you are able to coordinate a ride up and down the hill with someone else.
When you arrive, you'll be given a card with your name on it to put on your windshield. Therefore, if you're blocking another car they'll be able to find you to move your car. We recognize that this might be a slight annoyance and are doing our best to plan the parking to avoid difficulties. Thank you for your cheerful cooperation!
Things to Bring
- Pizza toppings (if you're coming on Friday night and have signed up to bring something; see pending email from Sheila, who is organizing this dinner)
- Layered clothing (esp. if staying over; temps range from ~70-85+ during the day to ~50 at night)
- Musical instruments
- Towel
- Bathing suit
- Sunscreen
- Hat/parisol
- Water bottle
- Comfy shoes (you'll have to negotiate a "rustic" staircase down a steep hill to the somewhat uneven terrain of our ceremony site--trust us, it's a beautiful spot. Leave your stiletto pumps at the club.)
- Clothes for the ceremony (see "Attire" below) and cozy clothes for cooler evenings
- Camping gear, if applicable (tent, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, headlamp or lantern...)
Attire
Attire for the wedding ceremony and reception would probably fall under the "dressy casual" category. Suits and ties aren't required, unless you're called to wear them or are rushing in from the office and have no time to change (that means you, Scott). For the ladies, a summer dress is perfect (leave your evening gowns on the red carpet); just remember to have layers for when the sun goes down. It's important that you don't wear heels with any sort of spike, as you'll have to descend and ascend a pretty countrified staircase down a steep hillside to our rather sandy ceremony site. Flats or platform heels would be best.
